Log

Set before Coming to an Understanding

Klaire Henriette: Psyche had texted Sirius about finally figuring out what this...strange strawberry smell was, and the pair elected to do it upstairs at the Green Room. She had gotten there a bit early do got some coffee, and was as always polite to all the staff. She was starting to learn most of their names now. Of course...she was staying away from Valeria, even if she somewhat understood more from Ylva and Vincent now.

Jeremiah Hamilton: Jeremiah emerged from the office area not too long after Klaire had received her cup from the barista, giving the waiting Sleepwalker a warm smile and the staffer behind the counter a nod. "Hey. Ready to head up?"

Klaire Henriette: She was sipping her coffee, and looked over with a smile, thanking the barista again for the coffee.

"Of course. Sorry it took me so long to be able to come here. Its been an eventful week."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "No worries. It has been for me, too, so I feel you." He asked for a water bottle for himself from the barista before leading the way into the studio, claiming his usual seat on the piano bench once they were upstairs and settled. "What's been up on your end?"

Klaire Henriette: She sat on the floor as usual, sipping her caffeine.

"I ended up going to the club, which I have mixed opinions about. Saw Vincent and Kenzie there, and had a rather mature conversation with Vincent. I'm not sure who he's been talking to but he is slowly improving, which should do him well. And I saw him again yester- two nights ago. I guess its better to attribute nights to them. It was yesterday morning but, nevermind. Work has been busy as well. How about you?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Ah...you don't strike me as the clubbing type, but good on you for getting out of your comfort zone." He nodded, taking a sip of his water. "I need to talk with Vincent as well, admittedly. I overstepped when looking into a friend of his' wellbeing and owe him an apology."

Klaire Henriette: "I'm not in all honesty. After our last talk I tried to be more social...and that was my attempt."

She raises an eyebrow.

"In what way?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I was talking via text with his friend Valeria who works as a chef here and she mentioned something that had come up which would keep her from being able to come in the next day, and then her messages cut off suddenly. Out of concern I opened a scrying window to check on her, and she happened to be in Vincent's home." A wry smirk formed on his face as he shook his head. "Have to wonder if Fate is toying with me now that I've began to study it more thoroughly."

Klaire Henriette: Her face morphs into a slight frown as Valeria is named, but nods.

"It can be hard to do such things if you aren't aware they are in a private place. Dare I ask what happened? I'm afraid I don't know enough about how Fate works to comment."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "More in the vein of doing the same thing that I'm investigating someone else for, even if it was unintentional. It's a bit ironic, if you think about it. "

Klaire Henriette: She nods.

"I wasn't going to comment."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I'll get it sorted out." He took another sip of his water and set the bottle aside. "Anyway, we have some experimenting to do, yeah?"

Klaire Henriette: "I believe in you. I think it will resolve easily enough. If nothing else, I can talk to Ylva. Either for her to talk to Valeria or Avery."

She nods.

"Vincent didnt smell it, Ylva didnt smell it, you didnt either. It's been at Maddy's, Consilium Hall, the Warden's Sanctum, and my own home. All of which I know have wards and such about."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Right. Which makes me think you've developed your own version of the Sight. The lowest intensity form of it manifests when uncloaked magic is nearby."

Klaire Henriette: She nods slowly.

"I see. I was thinking this had something to do with the meditation we had last time. The timing roughly lines up."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Most likely, yeah. You've picked up other abilities from observation in the past, so it tracks." He nodded, smiling slightly. "Definitely unexpected, but exciting at the same time."

Klaire Henriette: "Indeed, I have. Strawberries as the manifestation though...quite strange. What exactly can the Peripheral Mage Sight do? Anything beyond knowing when uncloaked magic is nearby?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Do they have a particular meaning or significance to you? Mine manifests as music, for example."

"That's the main part of it. You need the more active variant - what Bones helped you to see - to get more details on what exactly is around you."

Klaire Henriette: "Not in the slightest. I enjoy strawberries, but just as much as other fruit."

She nods.

"Is that something I should...just know how to do then? If I have the Peripheral?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Interesting. Not a bad thing, mind; the Supernal works in mysterious ways."

"The active version, you mean? That I can't say but we can try. It takes a measure of focus and normally filters things through the lens of the Path, so I'm not sure if you'd be able to access it yourself."

Klaire Henriette: "So I've been told. I thought the Peripheral was supposed to be for Mages as well, so who knows. Well...you would know better than I do."

She nods.

"Have you ever heard of any other Sleepwalkers be able to do this?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "It's the first I've seen of it, at least, although I know of others who can pick up on the presence of other supernaturals like you can with the Lost."

Klaire Henriette: "But it's not you. I don't feel it at this moment, but I do around the wards. It feels...different? I'm not sure how to describe it, just that it is."

She shakes her head.

"It does surprise me that you haven't seen this before. With...all the thingd you focus on, I was expecting you to have."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I don't have anything running at the moment and there's nothing active here, so there wouldn't be anything to pick up."

"I'm a bit surprised too, but then again there's always something new to find out there. Keeps things interesting."

Klaire Henriette: "But I can feel when Ylva is around, regardless if any of her things are active. Just the Lost's presence does it."

She nods.

"I guess its something to discover then. I'm certain Bones will be very interested in figuring the small details out."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Mmhmm. It seems like it's something in the same vein but not a one to one match."

"Wager they will, yeah. If you like I can cast something now to test it out."

Klaire Henriette: "Indeed. At this point I think I'm looking for answers in uncharted territory. Which is...fresturating but does make me curious."

She nods.

"Sure, should I look away so I don't know when you cast it?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Sounds like an idea." He nodded, waiting for her to get into position as he mulled what to cast. He gave it another minute or two before pulling the leather cord around his neck from under his shirt, holding the brass serpent pendant in his hand as he focused his will.

A moment later the room grew brighter as an orange-sized orb of light formed between the pair, coupled with that sweet smell hitting Klaire's nose.

Klaire Henriette: She turned waited a second, eyes closed. By all means shouldn't have been able to see the light, and holds up a finger right as he finishes casting.

"There. Now I can feel it."

A turn, looking at the light.

"How did I do?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Right on the dot." He replied with a smile as bright as the ball of light, tucking the pendant back into place under his shirt. "Nicely done."

Klaire Henriette: She nods.

"Can you try something cloaked?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Sure thing." The light was dispelled and after a moment's focus he wove said cloak around himself, preventing his nimbus from being easily scryed upon. Notably there was no sense of the magic being done on Klaire's end. "Anything that time?"

Klaire Henriette: Her brow furrows, then she shakes her head.

"No... wait.....no, nothing. That's good to know."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Mmhmm." He nodded with a smile. "Anything else you want to test out?"

Klaire Henriette: She shakes her head.

"I don't even know what to ask."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I'll do some more research on my end to see what info we may have on this sort of ability, there may be more you're able to pick up on." He looked her over a moment, the smile still in place. "How you feeling at the moment?"

Klaire Henriette: "Please, I would appreciate."

She pauses, assessing herself.

"Is it strange to say worried? I feel like I should be excited, but I have this sense of dread."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Oh? Any reason in particular?"

Klaire Henriette: "That this will put a target on my back? Whether by the Seers who are already looking for targets, or by those of the Consilium that don't like me already and would gladly look at me with suspicion at this ability."

She shakes her hand.

"More the former, but I worry of the latter."

Jeremiah Hamilton: His eyebrow arched slightly but he offered a nod. "The former is an understandable worry. The latter I don't see as an issue, personally; developing an ability like this may be rare but it's not a scarlet letter for you or anything. Hell, it's something to be celebrated in my book."

Klaire Henriette: She sighs.

"I am glad you think it should be celebrated. That's my hope, that others will too. But I know many already do not see me in the most positive light."

Jeremiah Hamilton: He nodded quietly. "Maybe, but you have the opportunity to change that. None of us are perfect, as much as some may strive to be, and you've been making strides to amend those initial missteps."

Klaire Henriette: She nods silently, staring off for a minute.

"Okay...your motivational speech is working. I'll work more on it until I can be a person I'm proud of. Which seems like it may be a while."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "It might, but it's worth the effort. It's something I still work on myself, growing as a person from the man I was before."

Klaire Henriette: "I am still struggling to figure out my end goals. And then Psyche on top of that. But...I'm hoping I can do it.

Jeremiah Hamilton: "I know you will." He replied with a smile.

Klaire Henriette: She nods, letting the talk die a bit, before speaking up.

"Anything else you want to try while I'm here and we are thinking about it?"

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Not that I can think of off-hand."

Klaire Henriette: She nods.

"Thank you... for helping me figure this all out, I appreciate it and will continue to tell you that."

Jeremiah Hamilton: "Very welcome. More than happy to help."
