Log

Jane
The night shift was on at Maddy's and Jane was at a table, looking straight ahead and taking sips off a big cup of coffee, with an occasional bite of one of the Trick or Treat Waffles from the menu, doused in syrup. She was dressed in dark blue jeans and wearing a black leather jacket over a black T-shirt with the logo for Weyland-Yutani on it.
Bones
Tommy was in a very androgynous form today, with a size and frame of their masculine form, but the figure of their feminine form. A suit coat and button up shirt, green over white, with a red tie covered the top of their form while the bottom wore a past the knees skirt that continued the Red if the tie. As they step through the portal that a fellow mystagogue pointed out, they scan with a curious eye. ( Lemme know if there's any sense that I need to tell you about, currently they have their prime, forces and space sight up from going through the portal)
Jane
To the untrained eye, Jane seemed an absolutely normal lady—if rather well-toned and athletic— just enjoying a regular meal at a diner. A skilled eye might pick up more about the way she picks up her coffee or takes bites of waffle. There's nothing magical about her to be seen. And still, there's something about the way she's gazing off into the distance straight ahead that is a bit odd. But she stops that when she notices Tommy's entry, and turns her head to look at them. She offers a nod and then it's back to the staring.
Mage Sight'
Jane buzzes to Tommy's Forces sight, however - delicate traceries of energy flowing through her from tiny implants and carbon wires. Seeing more than this would require the sort of prolonged scrutiny specifically barred by Maddy's - at least, barred without Jane's consent - but at first glance, Jane is both woman and wonderful machine.
Bones
As they fully establish where they were, and the friend having told them the rules, the sight disappears from their perception. However the level of energy pulsing from the woman was curious. They approached and spoke with a kind, honest tone, "Hello, I am new in town and this is my first time here. May I join you?"
Jane
"Please, feel free. Love meeting new people." Her gaze doesn't move as she speaks. "Sorry, just zapping out job applications," she adds with a little chuckle. A couple eyeblinks and she's looking back to Tommy. "Name's Jane, and you are?"
Bones
And the Obrimos sat where indicated and smiled, "Oh! Sorry! I was curious what I saw as I entered and I forgot to introduce myself fully. Feel free to call me Bones," they bobbed their head as a note of introduction tinged the high tenor voice.
Jane
"Bones?" She raised an eyebrow, "So, what is it that you saw as you entered?" She winked coyly and gestured to the waffles, "It's the Trick or Treat waffles, isn't it? No one can resist the Pumpkin."
Bones
"A nickname given to me at the height of the anthropologist drama on television," another bob of the head, before they studied the waffles for almost a full minute. They realized it was a pun and then up to Jane, "I can see electricity and other forms of energy." To be polite, they left it at that for the moment.
Jane
"Ah.. then I must be setting off your electro-vision, eh?" She seems set to just roll with the idea of seeing electricity. "Well, to jump ahead of the question that will eventually come up, I've been enhanced technologically. Faster, stronger, tougher." She shrugs. "I'm guessing you're uhh.." she bites her lip, trying to avoid using the wrong term, "..Awakened?"
Bones
"They said this was a place for those a little different,"they said with a smile. Considering the door, the owner and the rest, they just nodded at the term, "Si. And I apologize for catching you in my gaze."
Jane
She smiled as well, "Ah, it's alright. Saved me a little time, got to cut right down to it. I'm guessing you're new, then?" She took a sip of coffee and leaned back in the seat.
Bones
"Yes and no. Grew up around here but it's been a decade maybe since I stayed for any length of time. Normally when I would visit, I'd obstain from politics."
Jane
"Ahhhh. I'm from rural Ohio, and just got here a couple weeks ago after.." She stops, takes a deep breath and then sighs, "..it's a long story, I joined the Army and they did all this.." She gestures to indicate her whole body. "But I'm no longer working along the lines of my former life now."
Bones
They nodded and an empathetic look recognized the pause, silently.

"Myself, on the other hand, I am still in my former line of work, but just a different supervisor, so to speak," their tone was soft, warm, but not pushing Jane.
Jane
"I hear ya. I'm getting plugged into the stranger stuff going on around here, trying to figure out my role in things." She goes back to leaning in to work on the last bits of waffle. "But otherwise, I'm getting back into medic work. Much better."
Bones
"Well, since I don't think you were on the mailing list, but I hear it's going around... I've been brought in as an expert on the recent issues relating to symbols of the Mother, and the Dreams that have been plaguing the ... is there a local term for those in the know?"
Jane
"Uhhhh..." She tries to remember if there's anything that fits the bill, "Not that I've heard of, but I'm still kinda new, too. And the Dreams thing, I only know there was a thing on the board about it?"
Bones
"Good. I like Shadow Folx, since we tend to hide from the rest of the folx in the world," a smile was brought to their face again, "And most seem not to object to shadows, versus nights or spirits or .... what have ye."
Jane
She shrugs, "Everyone's got names for stuff. I'm not too worried over all that. But anyway, what's your expertise about these things? Don't know much about a 'Mother'."
Bones
"I am an expert in symbology as it relates to occult matters, semiotics and the like. I'm also a trained archaeologist that has dove in many ruins around the world, so I've experienced many different types of symbols..." they speak with a general level of honesty or stating fact, rather than brag, "However, I am certainly new to town here, and the situations. The Mother thing might be a more .... societal issue, I suppose. I haven't gotten a full download yet."

The Mystagogue pulled out a journal, black leather trimmed with gold, and a pen of gold and silver with strange runes upon it. They began to write a few notes in it.
Jane
"Ahhhhh.. yeah, I could see you being pretty handy there. I sure don't know anything about all that. The most occulty stuff I'd been into before coming here was a Pentecostal church and it didn't take with me." She looked at the journal and pen curiously, but not lingering on them too long.
Bones
They glanced up as the conversation paused too long, "Oh, sorry. I just wanted to make some notes," they turn the journal to show Jane.

Jane, young female presenting, nM,nS, enhanced, implants, well-toned, athletic, Medic, former Army
Jane
She nodded, "nM? nS? You got your own shorthand, eh?" She smiled, "That's a good move; should do it more. Lots of spies out there."
Bones
"I don't want to put nA, because of cultural considerations within the United States, but it helps me keep track of who does what. If I need to, I can make it go away as well."
Jane
"I don't quite know what they mean, honestly." She snorts, "I joined the Army so I could go to college but got lost along the way."
Bones
"Oh goodness!" they seem quite upset about that on Jane's behalf, "As someone who's made a lifetime of study, that breaks my heart. I would be more than happy to help tutor or help you get in a university or what not."
Jane
"Really?" She seems happy to hear that, "I mean, I'd love to go do medical school, that's kind of the dream right now. I know I could do more in the medical field."
Bones
"Certainly. I am a devoted of the Liberal Arts and have made my lives' work in the studies I choose. To hear someone else get side tracked from their goal of an education? Good lord above, I would do just about anything I could to help."
Jane
She nods and smiles widely, "Well, we'll have to keep in touch as I go through the process, yeah?" She goes to finish off the last bit of waffle. "Got a number or some way to reach you?"
Bones
They pulled a card from their pocket, and handed it to her.

Bones, ###-###-####, P.O. Box ###
Jane
She took the card and looked it over from top to bottom, left to right. "Added." She handed the card back, "Probably best for me not to keep it. I kind of have a thing about carrying paper with information on it, bit of a phobia from more 'top secret' days. Better to not have things on my person that link me to you, for your sake."
Bones
"If you ever think you need to do it, text it and say burned. It's from the local Stop and Go..." and they seemed to scribble nonsense in the journal and a minor effect connected them to their phone, similarly, just in case a message came in.
Jane
"Gotcha." She nods, "Feel like I've been bugging you with lots of questions now, heh. Guess it makes up for all the questions I've had to deal with." She smirked playfully and took a gulp of coffee.
Bones
"You are more than welcome to ask questions. How else does one gain knowledge but to seek it out?"
Jane
She shrugged and waved for a new mug of coffee. "I suppose so, but you can ask me stuff, too. I just don't know much about things outside of my whole thing."
Bones
"So medic... hospital, emt, or else where?"
Jane
"Paramedic, certified, looking for work and living off savings. Was able to save a good chunk of money because I.. kind of didn't really have a life outside of my work back then." She gratefully accepts the next mug of coffee, "But I'm as far up the track as you can go as a medic."
Bones
THe curious mage wanted to dig around in those stories, but instead went the more traditional route, "I see. So is that license same to being an EMT? Next step would be nursing or full on M.D. school, si?"
Jane
"EMT is basically the entry-level for 'doing this for a living'. Paramedic is basically the top of it; I can do just about anything medically needed to keep someone alive, provided there's a doctor or nurse online to approve the more serious methods." She paused and shook her head, "It's less a next step down the line than switching to a completely different line; but yeah, at my level, I'd have to go for a BSN, PA, or MD— or else risk my own sanity doing much more basic stuff than I'm able."
Bones
"Huh. I only know basic first aid... helps out in the jungle. That's for sure.... but if you do go back, and you need help with the core classes? That's my jam. Math, History, Anthropology, Archaeology, Psychology... all sorts of ologies..."
Jane
"I was an alright student in Math and History back in high school, but I was more into athletic stuff back then. Besides, I'd be really something else if I couldn't pass math class with a computer in my head." She taps her skull and chuckled. "But those ologies, might need a hand with those."
Bones
"Well, there's using the computer, and then there's using your own skill. I could use the Arcana to learn so much, but I still sit down and put pencil to paper sometimes."
Jane
She raises her mug of coffee, "Computer helps, though," and takes a gulp.
Bones
"D'you remember when they said you'd never have a calculator with you at all times?" and then they realized they hadn't ordered anything yet and looked apologetically to the wait staff as they came past, "Oh, um, excuse me. May I have a large coffee and the Three Amigos Scramble?"

And then after that interaction, back to Jane, "So when you're not computing, or medicing, what do you do for fun?"
Jane
"I do a lot of running. It's my main way of getting around, Sometimes I go exploring in abandoned places, too, or use them as running courses. And theres.." She let out a small chuckle, "..sometimes I like to go places and pretend to be a celebrity for free drinks."
Bones
"Running is one of my preferred methods of exercise and exploring as well. I've outran a few retired professional athletes in my time," and then a curious head tilt, "How do you pretend to be a celebrity? I know how I could, but not how someone else could."
Jane
"Soo, heh.. aside from the cyborg stuff, I'm also a little bit of a mutant of a sort. I kind of have the ability to alter my appearance, look like other people after I watch them for a while. And one of my implants.." Her voice suddenly changes to perfectly match Tommy's, "..allows me to sound just like them."
Bones
The Mage scribbled again on the notebook, with some strange symbols, and then likewise, looked like Jane, and chuckled, their voice like hers, "I see exactly what you mean."
Jane
"Alright, time to get back to normal..." She changes her voice back, "Mine takes a little more time and effort than yours, but.. y'know, different ways of doing it, I suppose. Other trick I can do is blend in with surroundings like a chameleon. Handy for sneaking around."
Bones
Again, they switch forms, going to a fully female presenting form, and a brilliant smile on her face, "I know aa few of those tricks but good to know you have some infiltration skills," she adds it to the other page of the notebook.
Jane
"Yeah.. basically, my job was half that, and half medic. They told me that they needed me to go into places, get people out who were taken hostage and bring them back alive. That's how it started, anyway." She frowned, "In the end, I found out I was being sent to hunt people like myself, who'd gone rogue, and bring them back. So then I went rogue."
Bones
A call comes in, perhaps detectable by the modified mutant, but Tommy doesn't react in order to answer, instead, the communication is internal. After a few moments of 'conversation,' she frowns and replies to Jane, "That is terrible, and I'd love to hear more, and plan some outings, maybe some runs with you, but for now, my Father has fallen and needs some assistance. And before you offer, he and I will be good. " They swiftly stand and walk out, leaving cash for hte uneaten food.
Jane
"I see, well I won't hold you up from what you gotta do. I'll see you around, yeah?" She nods.
