thought you would kill him as in saw you attacking him, or assumed you would and tried to deal with it ahead of time?

{I had a foot on his chest. He tried to back it of our deal.}

you keep saying tried. Was he asking you to end the deal? stating he didn't want to continue with it? or had he broken it already?

{Yes. He. Wanted to back out because it wasn't healthy. That isn't how our deals work. We have worked now to make it healthier. Post Avery nearly dying.}

{Because I told them to Collect him. Avery had always been good in terms of understanding a promise.}

I want to be sure I understand. You asked them to come collect him and then either maintained or proceeded to put their beloved in a position which they could reasonably interpret as imminent harm given your previous assaults on his person?
Titania:
{I had a foot on his chest so he couldn't run. No harm. But. Yes. That's a fair take.}

what matter if he left on his own? you could have let him rather than telling them to come collect him correct? What am I missing

I think you made a play to exert control and either underestimated their protective instincts or overestimated their fear of you. I think that everything could have been accomplished without involving Avery at all. I think your decision to involve them to support you against Vinny was foolish and unnecessary.
am I incorrect that you are capable of putting your foot straight through Vinny's chest?

then would you agree that despite your intent otherwise, they arrived to find you holding Vinny at considerable believable threat to life and limb?

you probably do. I'd conclude that Avery did not so much 'start it' as respond reasonably to a direct and present danger to their loved one, a situation caused unnecessarily by your desire to leverage their view of promises against their partner to your benefit. I would place the fault squarely on you, to be blunt.

{So by that logic. I both started it. And ended it. Which would be why I feel guilty. I walked away unharmed and they nearly died.}

yes you are and as someone who is likewise extremely difficult to harm, it is OUR responsibility to rein in ourselves. both of them came to extreme harm because you wanted to leverage one against the other and played it badly.

I am going to belabor this point a moment because I want to express the severity of this to you.
For the sake of an extremely minor social advantage, you involved a member of my society in a dispute between two members of your own, played it so badly that they felt the need to defend their loved one, and proceeded to nearly kill them in response while you, as you just stated, walked away unharmed.
This is a fucking problem, Titania.
